Melissa Braver, DVM

Urgent Care Veterinarian

Melissa Braver, DVM
Bio

Dr. Braver is an Atlanta native. She moved to New York City to pursue her undergraduate degree, and then back to Georgia for her veterinary degree. After graduation from UGA, she completed a one year rotating internship in Michigan to further her education and skills. Upon completion, the northeast was calling her back, so she moved to New Jersey where she worked as a general practitioner in a progressive small animal clinic. After 4 years in New Jersey, however, she realized she really missed her Georgia roots and moved back home. She worked as a full-time emergency clinician in a busy 24-hour critical care hospital in the metro area for 5 years.

In 2016, she was introduced to the world of High Quality High Volume Spay and Neuter. Since then, she has worked in the non-profit sector of veterinary medicine and has performed over 30,000 spay/neuter surgeries. She takes pride in knowing she is making a difference in helping control pet overpopulation which, in turn, helps keep animals out of shelters.

Despite enjoying making an impact in the “bigger picture” with companion animals, Dr Braver still loves the one-on-one interaction with clients and pets. She is honored to be able to help an individual pet and their people in times of need — whether that is getting them patched up and back to health or helping a family say goodbye. She is excited to be a part of the Ruby Veterinary team!

When not working, Dr Braver is happiest outside — hiking, backpacking, or even just exploring the city on foot! She has two very spoiled rescue pets of her own, a scruffy mutt named Gertrude (aka Dirty Gertie) who is essentially the boss of the house, and a former TNR cat named lowercase g (aka LG) who has lots of extra toes and, subsequently, gives a solid “high 7”.
